Dog forests in Himmerland

Please note that many of the dog forests are located a bit away from the parking areas, and it is important that you keep the dogs on a leash until you reach the enclosed dog forests – unless stated otherwise.

There are trash bins at most of the dog forests, but for those where there are none, we kindly ask you to take your waste home or to the nearest trash bin.

Nørager Hundeskov

Enclosed dog forest of 7 ha located southeast of Nørager, on the way to Hobro. There is a playground and a bonfire area near the dog forest – however, no toilet facilities.

Hadsund Lilleskov Hundeskov

Enclosed dog forest of approx. 5 ha located just north of Hadsund. The dog forest has picnic tables and benches, as well as water for the dogs.

Arden Hundeskov (Rold Skov)

Large enclosed dog forest with varied terrain. The dog forest has a wetland area and is located about 1 km north of Arden. Close to the dog forest, you’ll find a forest playground, bonfire area, etc.

Den Jyske Skovhave

Den Jyske Skovhave is Denmark’s oldest enclosed dog forest. The dog forest is 14 ha, and at several spots in the forest, you’ll find picnic tables and benches, some of which are covered. In the middle of the dog forest, there is a lake. There are toilets by the parking area.

Lundby Krat Hundeskov

1.6 ha enclosed dog forest located north of Lundby Krat – east of Hadsund Landevej. There are picnic tables and benches in several areas of the dog forest. South of the dog forest, there is a bonfire area, a water pump, and picnic tables by Krathuset.

Poulstrup Sø Hundeskov

Sjøstrup Hundeskov v. Aars

A small grove with a slightly hilly terrain. The dog forest is enclosed and is just under ½ ha in size. In the dog forest, there is a water area and picnic tables.

Aars Skov

4 ha enclosed dog forest, which also has a special enclosure for puppies and smaller dogs. The dog forest is suitable for people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users, and there are picnic tables in the forest.

Aalestrup Hundeskov

3 ha enclosed dog forest in the middle of Aalestrup town. The forest has two picnic tables, one close to the parking lot inside the forest and the other on an open grass area.

Gedsted Hundeskov
