On a Yule journey through history - Our modern Christmas celebration rests on a deep foundation of ancient religious practices, folklore, superstition, and the faithful repetition of established traditions.
The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year. The Vikings celebrated the solstice. They made sacrifices to the gods, held feasts, and drank Yule. This weekend, we present a glimpse of some of the traditions practiced when people celebrated the winter solstice and the pagan Yule here in the Nordic region during winter. There will be small presentations, storytelling, family activities, and cooking over open fires.
